will be displaying ham radio to groups of youngsters at the
Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) Young Eagles event to be held
at New Kent County Airport on
Saturday, June 10, 2006
, from 0900 to
1300 hours. The event is designed to introduce the world of aviation to
those between 8 and 17 years of age. DDXG is proud to be able to open
the door of amateur radio to attendees as well. The EAA Young Eagles
program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 -
17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These
flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the
generosity of EAA member volunteers.
Since 1992, more than 1.1 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight
through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90
different countries and have been flown by nearly 40,000 volunteerpilots.
DDXG's ham radio stations will be operational and youth will be able to
make radio contacts and ask questions about ham radio from clubmembers.
The event is free-of-charge and lunch is provided. Those interested in
attending should contact the New Kent Airport Manager, Bill Kelly, at
932-3984 to register. The airport is located at 6901 Terminal Rd
Quinton, Virginia 23141. For more about the Young Eagles program, visit
